Where are you located?
Everywhere. While we do not have a permanent studio space for classes, we make ourselves available to our students wherever they wish to do their classes, be that their own home, a shared space in their apartment building, the beach, or a public park. Physically, we travel all throughout Miami-Dade and Broward county giving private in home lessons to our students. Virtually, we are available anywhere in the world you can get an internet connection. Ask us about online classes.
What kinds of dance styles do you teach?
We primarily specialize in casino, otherwise known as "Cuban salsa," and other Cuban dances including son, rumba, mambo, cha cha cha, and others. We can also introduce you to other Latin rhythms such as merengue, bachata, etc.
Casino? I'm here to dance, not gamble."
While the rest of the world refers to this music and dance as "salsa," a term primarily used to market both to international audiences, Cubans call their most popular pastime casino. In the 1950s, pre-Cuban revolution, Havana's coast was lined with casinos and clubs where patrons would join sports leagues, participate in social gatherings, and yes, dance. Casino Deportivo de La Habana was one of the most popular among them, becoming known for the notorious bands or conjuntos that played there. It was the place to be if you wanted to dance son, the precursor to all salsas. Eventually, "let's go dance son in the style they do at the casino" was shortened to "let's go dance casino" and here we are now.
Can you come to my house?
Yes. We do all of our classes in students' homes, unless otherwise noted or requested.
How can I book a class?
You can either send us a booking request or call/text us at 954-601-4256.
Where can we see your previous work?
The best place to keep up with us and see what we're up to is our Instagram page. We also post videos to our YouTube page from time to time.
What is your typical process for working with beginners?
We tailor our teaching style to our students' needs based on their individual physical abilities. While each person has different and mixed abilities, everyone has the capacity to learn how to dance. It's just a matter of working with what you've got to reach a level of adeptness that is to your satisfaction, but still organic and within your reach.
